This detail is from a much larger painting which shows the woman washing Jesus' feet with her own tears and drying them with her hair. His hands are demonstrating to all the guests that she has treated him better his host, who considers her to be a sinner beyond redemption. Her gift of worship is accepted, her repentance rewarded with forgiveness.

This was an experiment with an underpainting in warm colors, over which was painted the cool colors. The overall affect is like an impressionistic style.
