Wisdom of Sam
I spend the watchful night in fear.
Fearing for myself, my friends,
the world.
Then I cast my eyes upon the heavens:
glory and spendor immeasurable,
beauty unassailable
among the stars.
I put my trust above,
and I am content
to lie in peace
and dream.
The Post
I close my eyes
and let thoughts fly.
Freed of the specter
of the evil Blank Page,
I hear my heart,
see visions unfold,
feel the breadth and depth
of eternity,
if I close my eyes
and let thoughts fly
across the keyboard.
The Traveler's Moon
Wrapped in golden
gossimer veils
of mist
she hung low
a glowing pendant
on the throat
of deepening night

Hayward Hills
Wearing a fresh
green robe
of spring grass
the hillsides dance
like newly shorn lambs
leaping across the skyline
(bay area, CA)
Kettleman Hills
Knarled frames of old men
huddled knee-to-knee
faded green-jean clad
farmers and men of God
bent in fervent prayer
