When a co-worker saw my portrait of Sam she asked me to paint a portrait
of her daughter from a favorite photo. The photo had rather washed-out color and was poorly cropped,
but the expression was just adorable! So I agreed to give it a go. I ramped up the color and
contrast, extended the parts which had been cut off and color corrected (the skin tone in the photo
was way too sallow for one so young!). Not a perfect rendition, but a very good result, I think.
The co-worker was pleased and that's what counts... =)
My scanner is 12 inches wide, but it doesn't scan the entire area, so a bit of the side is cut off... that's why it appears a bit off center. There is at least a quarter inch space on each edge of the canvas, it doesn't really go off the edge like it seems in the scan. |
